At the Security Expo in Essen from September 22 to 25, 2026, Rohde & Schwarz will present both its established QPS201 static security scanner and a new walk-through model. The newly introduced QPS Walk500 extends the company’s portfolio as a more compact version of the QPS Walk2000 walk-through scanner, tailored for large events with very high foot traffic.

Beyond event security, Rohde & Schwarz is highlighting how its technologies can help protect critical infrastructure. The company will also demonstrate ARDRONIS, a robust drone defense system capable of detecting, locating, and precisely countering RF-based drone threats.

Rohde & Schwarz security scanners are developed for environments where security and controlled access are critical. Applications range from airports and border crossings to data centers, correctional facilities, loss prevention, critical infrastructure such as nuclear facilities, and major public events. At large gatherings, security screening must balance reliable detection with the need to keep people moving efficiently. Security personnel need to identify weapons, explosives and other prohibited items without creating unnecessary delays at entry points. data centers

The QPS Walk500 is designed to address these requirements in high-traffic event environments. Visitors can walk through the screening zone without stopping or removing coats and other outerwear, helping maintain a continuous flow through the checkpoint. With a throughput of up to 750 people per hour, the system is designed to combine efficient visitor processing with reliable security screening.

The system combines millimeter-wave technology with AI-based algorithms to identify a broad range of materials, including metals, plastics, liquids, granules, organic materials and ceramics. This approach also enables the detection of potentially hazardous objects that may not be identified by conventional metal detectors. AI-based algorithms.

Automatic threat detection precisely locates suspicious objects on a neutral avatar. This allows security personnel to immediately identify where a targeted follow-up inspection is necessary, saving time and shortening the interaction with the person being screened. The additional optional hand-masking feature allows people to hold everyday items such as cell phones, wallets and keys in their hands without interfering with the scanning process. This makes security checks more efficient and helps maintain the flow of people even when visitor traffic is heavy.

The QPS Walk500 stands out for its lightweight design, offering a flexible alternative to conventional access control systems. Its open design allows for an intuitive and welcoming security screening process, while audible and visual cues make it easy to use. With the QPS Walk500, Rohde & Schwarz is expanding the QPS Walk portfolio to include a compact model for applications requiring the highest throughput.

Rohde & Schwarz security solutions will be on display from September 22 to 25, 2026, at Booth 6C39 in Hall 6.
