Balu Forge Industries Ltd. has expanded its large-scale manufacturing capabilities with the successful acquisition of a state-of-the-art ring rolling production line capable of producing forged rings up to 6.7 metres in outer diameter (OD). According to the company, the new capability positions it among India’s largest ring rolling facilities and strengthens its capacity to manufacture ultra-large forged components.
The new production line is expected to support growing requirements across next-generation infrastructure, heavy industry and advanced technology sectors. The company said the new capability will also help reduce reliance on imported ultra-large forged and precision-machined components. Production trials for the ring rolling line are expected to commence before the end of 2026.

The new ring-rolling production line can handle rings with an outer diameter of up to 6.7 metres and a maximum weight of 18,000 kg (18 metric tons) per piece. This installation adds 18,000 tons of dedicated heavy ring-rolling capacity, focused on high value-added products. The combination of scale and precision opens up significant new opportunities across a wide range of critical industries.

With the capacity to forge seamless rings weighing up to 18,000 kgs, Balu Forge Industries Ltd will now supply foundational components for diverse sectors.
- Wind energy sector: The ring-rolling production line will produce mega-scale tower flanges, yaw rings, pitch bearings and slewing rings that are essential for highly efficient, next-generation onshore and offshore wind turbines.
- Aerospace and defence domain: The line will forge high-integrity structural rings, rocket motor casings, engine components and missile silos that require flawless metallurgical properties. This includes specialized turbine-engine parts such as seamless rings for jet-engine casings, compressor drums and turbine shrouds, as well as high-precision outer and inner bearing rings used in aerospace actuation and drivetrain systems.
- Space Launch vehicle structures: It will produce high-strength structural rings, adapter flanges, and rocket motor casing segments.
- Nuclear and power generation sector: It will produce seamless retaining rings, large generator components, and pressure vessel rings that meet the stringent safety standards of modern power plants.
- Oil and gas sector: It will deliver robust subsea connectors, blowout preventers (BOPs), large industrial valves, and pipeline flanges built to withstand extreme deep-sea pressures.
- Heavy machinery, mining and marine sector: It will supply massive gear blanks, bearing races, excavator slewing rings, and marine propulsion shaft components for the world’s most demanding environments.
- Heavy Railway & Mining Transporters: Manufacturing for Custom heavy-haul railway machinery, massive cranes, and specialized industrial tunnel-boring rail systems which require oversized rolled components and wheels.
