REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has transferred Balsane Power Transmission Limited, the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established for a transmission project in Maharashtra, to Resonia Limited. The handover took place on September 28, 2026.
A wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, RECPDCL served as the bid process coordinator for the project. Resonia Limited was selected through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route to develop the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

Shri Anil Kumar Perala, Deputy General Manager (Engineering) at RECPDCL, formally handed over the SPV to Shri Tushar Chhabra, Head of Business Acquisition at Resonia Limited. Officials from Resonia Limited, Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (Maharashtra STU) and RECPDCL attended the handover ceremony.
The project will involve the construction of a 765/400/220 kV air-insulated substation at Balsane in Maharashtra’s Dhule district. The planned transmission infrastructure will also include an approximately 106 km 400 kV double-circuit line connecting the 765 kV Balsane substation with the proposed 400 kV Malegaon substation.
In addition, the development will feature two 220 kV double-circuit lines, each extending for approximately 50 km, linking Balsane with the 220 kV Shivajinagar and Vikharan substations. The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months.
