Vikran Engineering Limited, a leading EPC company in India’s power transmission sector has secured an order worth approximately ₹153.76 crore, excluding GST from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID). Awarded through Domestic Competitive Bidding, the contract covers the 400 kV AIS Extension Substation Package SS-136T and further strengthens Vikran Engineering’s presence in high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
The project includes the extension of the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II (AIS) Pooling Substation, along with civil works for a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at the facility. The development forms part of transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II to facilitate the integration of an additional 2.7 GW of renewable energy potential through the tariff-based competitive bidding route.
Under the contract, Vikran Engineering will undertake the design, engineering, manufacture, testing and supply of equipment and materials, as well as transportation, unloading, storage, erection, testing and commissioning. The package comprises separate contracts for the supply of goods and services, with the overall project scheduled for completion within 21 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award.
