Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited and a leading provider of EV charging solutions has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Varanasi Smart City Limited (VSCL) to enhance the electric vehicle charging ecosystem in Varanasi. The partnership is aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric mobility and supporting the city’s sustainability goals.
The MoU was formalized on the occasion of World Environment Day in the presence of Shri Himanshu Nagpal, Municipal Commissioner and CEO of Varanasi Smart City Limited. The collaboration underscores the commitment of both organizations to promoting cleaner transportation and environmentally sustainable urban development.
As part of the agreement, TPEVCSL and VSCL will jointly identify strategic locations for deploying EV charging stations across the city. The planned infrastructure will cover key areas such as public parking facilities, transit points, municipal properties, commercial zones, and popular tourist destinations. The initiative is designed to improve charging accessibility for EV users while providing the flexibility to expand the network in line with future mobility requirements.

The network will focus on high-traffic, transit-oriented locations, ensuring convenient and reliable charging for EV users. This collaboration supports the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s vision for green mobility and aligns with the objectives of the Smart Cities Mission. It also reinforces Varanasi Smart City’s commitment to building future-ready infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban transport.
Marking World Environment Day, both organizations also undertook a plantation drive themed “Planting Today for a Greener Tomorrow.” Saplings were planted as part of the initiative, underscoring their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and greener urban development. The drive complements ongoing efforts to increase green cover while encouraging cleaner mobility solutions.
TPEVCSL has already established a strong presence across Varanasi, with installations at prominent locations such as Taj Ganges, Hotel Surya, and Brijlax Motors TML—demonstrating robust market penetration and trusted partnerships across key sectors.
