KYOCERA AVX, a global leader in advanced electronic components, has unveiled the 6780-000 Series IP20 T1 Industrial Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) connectors and cable assemblies, engineered to meet the evolving demands of industrial automation and smart infrastructure.
The 6780-000 Series enables Ethernet transmission over a single pair of twisted copper wires while simultaneously delivering power via Power over Data Line (PoDL) technology. Unlike traditional RJ45 connectors which require multiple wire pairs and do not provide power, the T1 SPE solution significantly reduces wiring complexity, saves space and weight, and consumes 45% less PCB area.
Designed for easy integration and low maintenance, these SPE connectors eliminate the need for gateways, analog interfaces, and fieldbus systems, cutting down on costs and system complexity. This translates to improved reliability and reduced downtime in applications like advanced factory automation, sensor-actuator networks, robotics, traffic management, smart grids, and remote monitoring.
Compliant with IEC 63171-6 and IEEE 802.3 standards, the 6780-000 Series delivers robust performance, supporting data rates of 1Gb/s up to 40 meters and 10Mb/s up to 1,000 meters. The IP20-rated connectors also feature RoHS compliance, surface-mount solder tails for optimized PCB signal integrity, and cold-welded insulation displacement contact (IDC) technology for efficient and reliable cable assembly.
The series is available in four standard 22AWG cable lengths (1, 3, 5, and 10 meters), with custom options available. Performance specs include 4A at 60°C current capacity, 60VDC operating voltage, and high voltage proof ratings (1,000VDC contact-to-contact and 2,250VDC contact-to-shield). With a rugged design rated for 1,000 mating cycles and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, these connectors are built to withstand demanding industrial environments.
