KEC International secures fresh India T&D orders, including its first 765 kV transmission line project for power evacuation from a pumped storage plant in Western India.
KEC orders worth ₹1,014 crores have strengthened the company’s India Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business, with the latest wins including its first order for setting up a 765 kV transmission line to evacuate power from a pumped storage plant (PSP) in Western India. The development marks an important milestone for KEC International Ltd. as power infrastructure requirements evolve alongside the expansion of renewable energy.
A First 765 kV Transmission Line Order
The 765 kV transmission line order represents a significant milestone for KEC’s T&D business. The project is intended to facilitate the evacuation of power from a pumped storage plant in Western India.
Pumped storage plants can support electricity grid operations by storing energy and releasing it when required. Transmission infrastructure plays a crucial role in connecting such power sources to the wider grid and enabling electricity to reach demand centres.
KEC’s latest order win therefore highlights the importance of transmission infrastructure in supporting the changing requirements of India’s power sector.
KEC’s Order Intake Crosses ₹9,600 Crore
Commenting on the development, Mr. Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, KEC International Ltd. said: We are delighted to secure this prestigious order from an existing client for the evacuation of power from a PSP. This marks an important milestone for our T&D business as we support the growing power infrastructure requirements of the Renewables segment. With these wins, our YTD order intake stands at over Rs. 9,600 crores.
The company said its year-to-date order intake has crossed ₹9,600 crore following the latest order wins.
Transmission Infrastructure in Focus
As renewable energy capacity expands, the need for supporting infrastructure, including transmission lines and grid connectivity remains a key consideration for the power sector. Projects involving pumped storage also bring attention to the infrastructure required to integrate energy storage with the electricity grid.
KEC International’s latest order announcement places its first 765 kV transmission line project at the centre of its new India T&D wins, alongside the company’s broader order intake performance.
