Growing Importance of Solar + BESS Projects
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are increasingly becoming an integral part of India’s renewable energy infrastructure. By storing excess electricity generated during peak solar production and supplying it when demand rises or sunlight is unavailable, BESS helps improve grid stability and enables greater integration of renewable energy into the power system.
As India continues to expand its renewable energy capacity, integrated Solar + BESS projects are expected to play an increasingly important role in ensuring reliable and dispatchable clean power.
Ceigall India stated that the Power Purchase Agreement was executed on June 29, 2026, between Ceigall Morena Solar BESS Park Limited and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited. The company also confirmed that the transaction does not involve any related-party arrangement and that neither the promoter nor the promoter group has any interest in the entity awarding the contract.
Why This Announcement Matters
The execution of the PPA marks an important development for Ceigall India’s renewable energy business, providing long-term project visibility through a 25-year operational framework. It also reflects the increasing momentum of utility-scale Solar + Battery Energy Storage projects in India as the country accelerates its clean energy transition.
