Telangana has invited bids for 5,800 MW of renewable energy through three tenders issued by the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) on October 13, 2026. The procurement includes solar power projects with battery storage, wind power projects and firm and dispatchable renewable energy supplied on a round-the-clock basis.
The tenders have been issued on behalf of Telangana’s distribution companies (TGDISCOMs) through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The procurement combines different renewable energy sources with energy storage and requirements for more consistent power supply.
Telangana’s 5,800 MW Renewable Energy Procurement Plan
The three tenders cover solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with battery storage, wind power projects and firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) on a round-the-clock basis.
The solar tender covers 3,000 MW of solar capacity and includes a 1,000 MW/6,000 MWh battery energy storage system. The wind tender seeks 800 MW of capacity, while the FDRE tender covers 2,000 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy.
The procurement details are summarized as follows:

The three tenders provide separate opportunities for developers to participate in the renewable energy categories specified in the respective bidding documents.
Solar Tender Combines Generation With Battery Storage
The 3,000 MW solar tender includes a 1,000 MW/6,000 MWh battery energy storage system, which can help shift electricity generated during periods of high solar output to periods of greater demand.
Solar generation varies with sunlight availability, making storage an important component of projects designed to deliver electricity beyond peak generation hours. The extent to which the system can support power supply will depend on its operating configuration and the conditions specified in the tender.
Telangana Opens Bidding for 800 MW of Wind Power
TGREDCO has invited bids for 800 MW of wind power projects under a separate request for selection (RfS).
According to the tender document, developers will be responsible for land and connectivity for their projects. The document also provides for 25-year power purchase agreements between successful bidders and Telangana’s distribution companies (TGDISCOMs).
The tender forms part of Telangana’s broader renewable energy procurement programme. Developers interested in participating can refer to the official 800 MW wind power tender for eligibility criteria, technical specifications, bidding requirements and contractual conditions.
Round-the-Clock Renewable Power in Focus
The third tender covers 2,000 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable energy on a round-the-clock basis.
Unlike standalone solar or wind projects, this category focuses on procuring renewable electricity under specified supply and delivery requirements. The tender sets out the conditions that developers must meet to supply power on a round-the-clock basis.
The inclusion of this tender alongside solar and wind procurement adds another component to Telangana’s renewable energy plans. The precise delivery obligations, eligible project configurations and other technical requirements are governed by the relevant bidding document.
Tender Schedule and Key Dates

Interested developers can consult the official TGREDCO website and the relevant e-tendering portal for amendments, clarifications or changes to the schedule before submitting bids.
Bidding Process to Determine Project Awards
The bidding process will determine which developers are selected to supply renewable power under the three tenders. The selected projects will cover solar, wind and round-the-clock renewable energy, with battery storage included in the solar procurement.
The outcome will provide a clearer picture of the capacity that Telangana’s distribution companies contract through the procurement process.
