Tata Power, one of India’s leading integrated power companies, and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), a premier institution for science, engineering and technology research, have entered into a Master Research Agreement (MRA) to establish a long-term strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to accelerate the scaling and commercialization of lab-scale innovations in next-generation energy technologies and advanced clean energy solutions, helping translate cutting-edge research into real-world applications.
The agreement was signed at the IIT Bombay campus by Dr. Praveer Sinha, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Tata Power, and Prof. Shrikrishna V. Kulkarni, Dean (Research & Development), IIT Bombay, in the presence of Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay.

The collaboration combines IIT Bombay’s research and innovation capabilities with Tata Power’s industry expertise and deployment experience to develop impactful solutions across a wide range of areas, including smart grids, power electronics, energy storage, electric mobility, cybersecurity, AI for power systems, digital grid technologies, carbon capture and the circular economy. By bridging advanced research with real-world industry applications, the partnership seeks to accelerate the development and deployment of scalable, industry-ready technologies that can support India’s clean energy transition, strengthen energy security and advance sustainable development.
