Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has secured a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth approximately USD 560 million for the West Minya Solar Project in Egypt. The project will be executed through a 50:50 joint venture with Hassan Allam Construction, a leading engineering and construction company with a strong presence in Egypt and the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Located in Minya Governorate, the West Minya Solar Project will have a planned generation capacity of 1,000 MWac and will be integrated with a 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Upon completion, it is expected to rank among Egypt’s largest utility-scale renewable energy developments, supporting the country’s efforts to expand clean energy generation and strengthen grid reliability.

Under the contract, the SWREL–Hassan Allam joint venture will undertake the complete EPC scope for the project. This includes engineering and design, procurement of equipment, construction of the solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, installation of the battery energy storage system, grid interconnection infrastructure, transmission facilities, and all associated balance-of-plant works required to deliver the project.
