Siemens has announced that Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Simple Energy has expanded its use of Siemens’ cloud-based software solutions to support advanced product engineering and digital transformation as it scales its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio.

Simple Energy is expanding its use of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, including Teamcenter X for product lifecycle management (PLM) and Designcenter X for advanced vehicle engineering. The company is also using Teamcenter X’s product configuration capabilities to manage complex vehicle variants and enterprise-level bills of materials (BOMs). The integrated digital environment is helping Simple Energy strengthen collaboration across engineering teams while improving flexibility and cost efficiency.

“As our products scale in complexity, we’re strengthening the systems behind how we build them. With Teamcenter X and Designcenter X, we’re able to manage complex variants and large assemblies with greater speed and control – enabling us to accelerate development without compromising agility,” said Kiran Poojary, Chief Technology Officer, Simple Energy.

“Simple Energy’s expansion of its Siemens’ software footprint demonstrates how customers can scale their digital foundation as product complexity increases,” said Matthew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Through close collaboration, we are supporting Simple Energy with a fully integrated vehicle engineering and lifecycle management digital thread that helps accelerate innovation and support its growth targets.”

Simple Energy initially adopted Teamcenter X to create a centralized product data management system and strengthen collaboration across its engineering teams. As its EV programmes evolved, the company expanded its use of Siemens’ software to support enterprise-level bill of materials (BOM) management and vehicle variant configuration, including a “150 percent BOM” approach.

Under this approach, Teamcenter X maintains a master configurable BOM containing all possible components, options and variants within a product family. This allows Simple Energy to generate specific 100 percent BOMs for individual customer orders, making it easier to manage and configure multiple vehicle variants efficiently.

As vehicle design and assembly become increasingly complex, Simple Energy has expanded its engineering environment by replacing its legacy 3D CAD capabilities with Siemens’ Designcenter X, which integrates with Teamcenter X.

The expanded software environment supports advanced surface design, large-assembly performance, as well as 3D electrical routing and harness design. These capabilities are designed to help Simple Energy’s engineering teams manage increasing product complexity and work more efficiently. Siemens’ value-based licensing model also allows the company to scale its software usage in line with its business growth.
