Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology solutions, has signed a turbine supply agreement with Vietnam’s REE Group for a combined 128 MW nearshore wind development in Vinh Long Province. The projects comprise V1-3 Phase II (48 MW) and V1-5 & V1-6 Phase II (80 MW) and represent a significant step forward for Vietnam’s offshore wind ambitions.

The developments will deploy sixteen EN-226/8.XMW offshore wind turbines, marking the largest single-turbine capacity ever installed in nearshore wind projects in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Once operational, the projects will contribute meaningfully to Vietnam’s national net-zero targets and strengthen the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Both projects are scheduled to begin construction simultaneously in areas with average wind speeds exceeding 7 meters per second. They are among the first group of wind projects approved under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII) and will be the country’s first to utilize large-rotor, high-capacity offshore turbine technology. Full grid connection is targeted for October 2026.

To address Vietnam’s challenging coastal environment, Envision Energy is applying true offshore wind engineering standards, specifically designed for high humidity and high salt-spray conditions. These measures are intended to ensure long-term turbine reliability, environmental health and safety compliance, and strong lifecycle performance, protecting the project’s quality and delivering more than 20 years of operational value for REE Group as the investor.

Envision Energy has also worked closely with local tower manufacturers and project stakeholders to overcome technical challenges related to large offshore turbine tower fabrication and domestic production capacity, supporting localization and supply chain development.

Since its introduction in 2022, the EN-226/8.XMW turbine platform has secured more than 2.5 GW of global orders, making it one of the most successful models in public tenders for low-wind-speed offshore and nearshore regions. The platform has been deployed at scale and has demonstrated stable operations for over three years in Chinese offshore wind projects.

Edward Hou, Senior Vice President and President of Asia-Pacific at Envision Energy, stated that the collaboration represents a major milestone for Vietnam’s renewable energy sector. He noted that the projects not only align with PDP VIII but also establish a new reference point for offshore and nearshore wind development across Southeast Asia, supporting regional progress toward a net-zero energy system.

Representing REE Group, Mr. Ashok, General Manager of REE Renewable, emphasized that Envision Energy was selected based on its technological leadership, the proven reliability of the EN-226/8.XMW turbine platform, and its extensive experience in large-scale grid-connected wind projects. He added that the projects are expected to set a benchmark for future nearshore and offshore wind developments in Vietnam and the wider region.
