Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DICABS) plans to invest ₹25 crore in a new CCV line at its Vadodara manufacturing facility to produce XLPE-insulated power cables rated up to 132 kV. The proposed expansion is aimed at strengthening the company’s high-voltage and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable manufacturing capabilities amid growing demand for underground cabling.

The company expects delivery of the plant and machinery by August 2027, with commissioning targeted for 31st  December 2027. The investment that includes floor extension will be funded through internal accruals.

Diamond Power to expand cable manufacturing capacity

The addition of the new Catenary Continuous Vulcanisation (CCV) line is expected to support Diamond Power’s efforts to serve customers seeking higher volumes of high-voltage cables within shorter delivery timelines.

Demand for underground cabling is growing across several infrastructure segments, including state utilities, transmission developers, renewable energy parks and data centres. The planned capacity addition is intended to help the company respond to these requirements while expanding its capabilities in the power cable segment.

Following the expansion, DICABS expects to operate six CCV lines and five silane lines at its integrated manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The company’s existing infrastructure includes six CCV lines, with EHV cable capacity of approximately 2,000 km per year.

Integrated facilities to support the new CCV line

Diamond Power’s manufacturing operations are supported by in-house aluminium rod mills, in-house compounding facilities and high-voltage testing laboratories accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The laboratories are rated up to 765 kV.

These facilities form part of the company’s integrated manufacturing setup, supporting its production of power cables and conductors for electrical infrastructure applications. The planned CCV line will manufacture XLPE-insulated cables up to 132 kV.

DICABS sees growing demand for EHV cables

Commenting on the expansion, Mr. Kavish Shah, Vice President of Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited stated that the company’s EHV order book was growing steadily, with customers seeking larger volumes and shorter delivery timelines.

He also said the additional CCV line would strengthen the company’s position in the medium-voltage (MV) and EHV cable segments and help it serve customer requirements from a single, integrated manufacturing location.

Diamond Power operating under the DICABS brand has 55 years of experience in the cable industry. Its product portfolio includes power cables ranging from 1.1 kV to 400 kV, as well as high-temperature low-sag (HTLS), AL-59, AAAC and other high-performance conductors.

The proposed ₹25 crore investment represents a further planned expansion of the company’s cable manufacturing infrastructure, with commissioning of the new line targeted by the end of December 2027.
