Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its portfolio of power electronics solutions with the launch of the first four devices in its new IHDV family of high-voltage power inductors. Designed for next-generation automotive, energy storage and industrial applications, the new inductors support isolation voltages of up to 1.5 kV and are offered in compact 0808 (20 mm × 14 mm × 14 mm) and 1008 (25 mm × 20 mm × 23 mm) package sizes. The lineup includes the Automotive Grade IHDV-0808AC-3A and IHDV-1008BB-3A, alongside the commercial-grade IHDV-0808AC-30 and IHDV-1008BB-30, all engineered for continuous operation at temperatures up to 180°C.

The newly introduced devices address the growing demand for higher-voltage power systems by extending voltage capability well beyond the 350 V range commonly supported by conventional inductors. A PET plastic coilform insulator enables the inductors to achieve 1.5 kV isolation voltage, while a powdered iron alloy core helps maintain stable inductance under load conditions. This soft saturation characteristic ensures effective ripple current control and allows the devices to withstand transient in-rush currents reaching up to five times their rated thermal current.

For high-frequency filtering applications, the IHDV series delivers significantly improved impedance performance compared to similarly sized iron composite inductors. The 0808 variants achieve impedance levels of 1 kΩ at a peak frequency of 80 MHz, while the larger 1008 models provide 2.8 kΩ at 25 MHz. This enhanced performance makes the inductors suitable for demanding applications such as onboard chargers, battery charging systems, power factor correction (PFC) circuits and high-voltage DC battery filtering.

The surface-mount IHDV-0808AC-3A and IHDV-0808AC-30 offer a compact footprint, occupying roughly one-third the volume of the larger 1008 versions. Meanwhile, the through-hole IHDV-1008BB-3A and IHDV-1008BB-30 are designed to deliver superior mechanical durability in harsh operating environments. All four devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free and Vishay Green certified, while additional support pins enhance resistance to shock and vibration. The automotive-grade variants also meet AEC-Q200 qualification standards, ensuring reliability for demanding automotive applications.
