Strengthening its focus on India’s fast-growing semiconductor industry, FUJIFILM India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat. The agreement was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara and marks a significant step in evaluating opportunities to manufacture advanced semiconductor materials in India.
The partnership reflects FUJIFILM India’s long-term commitment to supporting the country’s ambition of becoming a global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing destination. By exploring local production capabilities, the company aims to contribute to the development of a stronger and more resilient domestic semiconductor supply chain.
As part of the collaboration, FUJIFILM India will assess the feasibility of establishing a semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in Dholera, one of India’s emerging semiconductor and electronics manufacturing hubs. The company will work closely with government authorities, industry partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem and encourage localized production of critical materials.
The initiative comes at a time when global demand for semiconductors continues to accelerate, driven by expanding applications in consumer electronics, automotive technologies, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, and other advanced industries. By investing in semiconductor materials, FUJIFILM India aims to support India’s efforts to reduce import dependence, enhance supply chain resilience, and strengthen its position in the global semiconductor value chain.
