ENGIE, a global provider of low-carbon energy and energy services has achieved financial closure for its 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Barmer, Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development. The utility-scale solar project is being developed by Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE, and reinforces the company’s continued investment in advancing India’s renewable energy and clean power ambitions.

Upon commissioning, the Khaba Solar Project is expected to generate around 650 GWh of clean electricity annually, while helping reduce nearly 180 kilotonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. In addition to its environmental benefits, the project is expected to contribute to the local economy by creating employment opportunities during the construction phase. ENGIE also expects that approximately 80% of these jobs will be filled by members of local communities, supporting inclusive economic growth in the region.

The project has secured financing from a consortium of leading international financial institutions, underscoring investor confidence in both ENGIE’s project execution capabilities and India’s expanding renewable energy market. With financial closure now in place, the project will move into its next phase of development with construction targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2026.

We remain focused on delivering projects that combine execution excellence with operational reliability, while creating long term value for customers, local communities and the broader energy ecosystem. Every project we deliver strengthens the foundation for a cleaner, more resilient and energy secure future.”
