Amazon Web Services (AWS) has commenced construction of a new data centre in Hyderabad’s Future City, marking another milestone in the company’s long-term expansion of cloud infrastructure in India. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Shri. A. Revanth Reddy, highlighting the state’s growing role as a technology and digital infrastructure hub.
The new facility forms part of the continued expansion of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region, which supports businesses, startups and public sector organizations with cloud computing and artificial intelligence services.
AWS said it has already invested more than US$1.3 billion in cloud infrastructure in Telangana and plans to invest over US$21 billion in India between 2026 and 2030. As part of this broader commitment, Telangana is expected to receive investments of approximately ₹1 lakh crore by 2034, strengthening the state’s digital infrastructure ecosystem.
Expanding India’s Cloud Infrastructure
The planned investment will support the expansion of AWS data centre capacity in Hyderabad and Mumbai, enabling customers to access cloud services, artificial intelligence technologies, developer tools and advanced computing infrastructure.
The company said the expansion aligns with India’s Digital India initiative and the India AI Mission, as organizations increasingly adopt cloud technologies to accelerate digital transformation.

Telangana Strengthens Its Technology Ecosystem

Building a Skilled Workforce

Through its Amazon Data Centre Skilling Program, the company provides specialized training in critical facilities operations and cloud infrastructure. The programme has trained hundreds of students in Hyderabad, with many participants joining AWS data centre operations.
AWS also stated that it has trained more than 10 million people in India in cloud-related skills since 2017 through initiatives including AWS Skill Builder, AWS Educate and AWS re/Start.
