SGS, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has expanded its battery testing and certification capabilities at the Suwanee laboratory near Atlanta, Georgia. As a trusted partner to the battery industry, SGS now offers enhanced support to manufacturers and operators pursuing certification for batteries used in light electric vehicles (LEVs) and energy storage system (ESS) applications.
This expansion enables the lab’s expert team to test LEV and ESS modules or cell blocks up to 100V and currents up to 1200A, serving residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The development increases SGS’s local testing scope by 20% and extends voltage testing capacity by an additional 100V.
John Ciliege, Vice President, Connectivity, Global Head of NRTL, SGS said: “In response to the rising demand for greener technologies, we are delighted to announce the expansion of our battery testing services in North America. This welcome news ensures we are best placed to help manufacturers ensure their batteries are reliable, perform well, and are safe; providing the confidence and assurance needed in today’s fast-growing global marketplace.”
