Apraava Energy, one of India’s leading integrated energy solutions providers has announced the acquisition of Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established to develop an interstate transmission project in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project was awarded through the Government of India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and will comprise approximately 250 circuit kilometres (ckm) of 765 kV transmission lines and a 4,500 MVA (3×1500 MVA) 765 kV pooling station, equipped with a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM).
The project will play a key role in strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s interstate transmission infrastructure by enabling the integration and evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur region. It will support enhanced grid connectivity and facilitate the efficient transfer of renewable power, contributing to the state’s clean energy ambitions and India’s broader energy transition.

Developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model, the project will provide transmission services for a 35-year concession period following commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion within 36 months from the signing of the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA) and is expected to create significant direct and indirect employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.
Apraava currently operates three transmission assets comprising 1,000 ckm of transmission lines and 3,500 MVA of substation capacity. With the addition of Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, Apraava now has four greenfield transmission projects under construction, adding 1,180 ckm of transmission lines and 13,500 MVA of substation capacity.
