Road safety remains one of the most important public concerns in India, requiring continuous awareness, stronger infrastructure, and active community participation. Demonstrating how corporate social responsibility can contribute to safer public spaces, RR Kabel Foundation, in collaboration with Elixir Foundation has successfully concluded its “Traffic Awareness, Management & Road Safety Campaign” across Pune and Nashik. The initiative combined public education, infrastructure support, and citizen engagement to strengthen road safety awareness while improving working conditions for traffic police personnel.
Implemented under RRoshani, the CSR initiative of the RR Kabel Foundation, the campaign was carried out from January to September 2025 across the Pune and Nashik districts of Maharashtra. The initiative adopted a comprehensive approach to road safety by combining public awareness programmes, infrastructure support, and community participation. In addition to educating citizens on traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and first aid, the campaign also focused on improving the working environment for traffic police through the installation of dedicated traffic police booths at key locations.
As part of the initiative, the installation of traffic police booths at strategic locations has played an important role in strengthening road safety measures. Positioned at busy intersections, accident-prone stretches, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities, these booths improve the visibility of traffic personnel while encouraging motorists to comply with traffic regulations. They also enable quicker assistance during accidents and emergencies, provide a reliable point of contact for commuters seeking help or directions, and contribute to creating safer and more organized public spaces. By enhancing enforcement capabilities and supporting frontline traffic personnel, the initiative aims to foster a stronger culture of road safety and civic responsibility across the region.

The campaign focused on a multi-pronged approach to create a safer environment for everyone on the road. The project was concluded with a formal handover ceremony in Pune.
Key Achievements of the Campaign:
- Educating the Community: The awareness campaign reached over 10,000 students and citizens, providing crucial awareness on traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and first aid practices
- Wider Reach: Beyond this direct outreach, the campaign’s messaging was amplified through branded police booths, ensuring its impact extended to a much larger audience
- Creativity for a Cause: A road safety–themed painting competition witnessed the participation of 1,000 individuals, fostering community-wide awareness through a creative and engaging platform
- Enhancing Support for Traffic Police: Demonstrating commitment to road safety, 75 new traffic police booths were installed—55 in Pune and 20 in Nashik—significantly improving visibility, safety, and working conditions for the traffic police force.
The successful completion of the campaign underscores the positive impact that collaborative CSR initiatives can have on public safety and community well-being. By combining road safety awareness, infrastructure development, and support for traffic police, RR Kabel Foundation and the Elixir Foundation have demonstrated how partnerships between the corporate and social sectors can contribute to safer roads and encourage responsible behaviour among citizens across Maharashtra.
