Strengthening its Suzlon 2.0 vision through a DevCo-led growth strategy, Suzlon has secured a new Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), one of India’s leading renewable energy companies and a subsidiary of Tata Power. Awarded within less than a year of the previous order, this repeat mandate further reinforces the long-standing partnership between the two companies, taking their cumulative collaboration across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh beyond the 1 GW milestone.
The latest order also strengthens Suzlon’s presence in Andhra Pradesh, with its orderbook in the state now approaching 1 GW. The achievement underscores Andhra Pradesh’s significance as a key wind energy market for the company. Suzlon currently has an installed base of 1.8 GW in the state, accounting for 28.44% of its total installed capacity across South India.
Under the 400 MW project, Suzlon will deploy 127 units of its flagship S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company will execute the project through its end-to-end EPC capabilities, encompassing land acquisition, turbine supply, Balance of Plant (BoP) works, Pooling Substation (PSS), Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines, commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance services. The project will be developed in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group, said, “Tata Power operates one of India’s largest renewable energy portfolios, and we are proud to have surpassed 1 GW in cumulative orders with them across four states. Over the past two decades, our partnership has evolved from individual projects to advanced hybrid and round-the-clock renewable energy solutions that support India’s energy transition. As an EPC project under the DevCo model, this order demonstrates how integrated development and execution can accelerate renewable energy deployment.”
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said, “As customers seek execution certainty, EPC is emerging as the preferred model for renewable energy deployment. Suzlon’s proven end-to-end execution enables customers to de-risk projects and scale with confidence. We believe this integrated delivery model will play a critical role in accelerating India’s next phase of renewable energy growth.”
