Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced the commissioning of its “Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat to Increase Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) from ISTS, Part-B” project, further strengthening the country’s power transmission infrastructure.
According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the project achieved commercial operation status with effect from May 13, 2026, while confirmation regarding the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) was received on 03rd June, 2026.
The transmission expansion project has been developed to enhance the Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) from the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) in Gujarat. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to facilitate more efficient power flow across the network and support growing electricity demand in the region.
With the commissioning of the project, POWERGRID continues to strengthen the national transmission network through strategic investments aimed at improving grid reliability, operational efficiency, and power transfer capabilities. The development is aligned with India’s broader efforts to modernize transmission infrastructure and support the integration of increasing power generation capacity across the country.
POWERGRID remains one of India’s largest power transmission utilities, operating an extensive transmission network that plays a critical role in ensuring reliable electricity delivery across states.
