Ahead of World Environment Day, SJVN launched a Tree Plantation Drive in Shimla as part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and responsible development. Organized in partnership with the Himachal Pradesh State Forest Department, the initiative reflects the company’s continued focus on biodiversity conservation and community-driven environmental action.
The initiative was undertaken under the guidance of SJVN Chairman & Managing Director Bhupender Gupta and witnessed active participation from senior officials, employees, representatives of the State Forest Department, and personnel from the 133 Infantry Battalion (TA) Eco Dogra.
As part of the drive, 150 saplings of species including Deodar, Oak, Walnut, Pomegranate, and other indigenous varieties were planted to strengthen local biodiversity and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability. The plantation activity aimed to enhance green cover while promoting awareness about the importance of ecological conservation and climate resilience.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), emphasized that environmental protection and sustainable development remain integral to SJVN’s corporate philosophy. He noted that such initiatives not only contribute to ecological restoration but also encourage greater public participation in conservation efforts.
The Tree Plantation Drive reflects SJVN’s continued commitment to supporting national environmental initiatives and fostering a culture of sustainability among employees and local communities. Through such programmes, the company seeks to contribute meaningfully to biodiversity conservation, climate action, and the creation of a greener future.
