Karnataka has taken another significant step towards strengthening its position in India’s semiconductor and advanced electronics landscape, with the state’s 200-acre Semiconductor Park at KWIN City expected to become operational by December 2026.
The announcement was made by Honorable Minister, Large and Medium Industries, Government of Karnataka, Shri M.B. Patil during the inaugural session of the 15th Strategic Electronics Summit 2026, organized by the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru. The Hon’ble Minister stated that Karnataka’s semiconductor ecosystem continues to gain momentum, supported by an approved investment pipeline of ₹23,000 crores from leading global and domestic semiconductor companies. The investments are expected to strengthen the state’s capabilities across semiconductor design, research and development, prototyping, testing, certification, manufacturing and exports.
Among the major approved investments are Lam Research (₹15,901 crores), Applied Materials India (₹4,851 crores) and Bharat Semi Systems (₹2,342 crores). These projects are expected to generate more than 3,500 engineering jobs, while further strengthening Karnataka’s position in India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem. Highlighting the state’s long-term vision, Shri M.B. Patil stated that Karnataka is working to integrate local MSMEs into global semiconductor supply chains while leveraging Bengaluru’s established semiconductor design ecosystem, which is home to more than 100 chip design companies engaged in advanced chip development.

The Hon’ble Minister further stated that the KWIN City Semiconductor Park represents a major milestone in Karnataka’s ambition to become a leading destination for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics under India’s Semiconductor Mission. The dedicated semiconductor park is expected to provide world-class infrastructure to attract further investments in the sector. In addition to semiconductor initiatives, the state announced its upcoming Aerospace and Defence Policy 2026-2031, which aims to promote clusters focused on electronic warfare, embedded software, e-VTOL technologies and space payloads, complementing Karnataka’s broader advanced manufacturing strategy.
During the event, Hon’ble Minister released the ELCINA Report-26 and unveiled Wings of Astra, a book authored by Colonel Shri Lakshyajeet Singh Chauhan on the future of drones and emerging technologies.
The summit also featured addresses by senior government and industry leaders, including C-DOT Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, Bharat Electronics Limited Chairman and Managing Director Shri Manoj Jain, Joint Secretary to the Government of India Shri Sushil Pal, DRDO Director General Dr. B.K. Das and Lieutenant General Shri Rajeev Sahni, who shared their perspectives on the future of India’s strategic electronics and semiconductor sectors.

With the KWIN City Semiconductor Park progressing towards operations and fresh investments flowing into the state, Karnataka continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s leading destinations for semiconductor manufacturing, electronics innovation and advanced technology development.
