Bondada Engineering Limited has secured a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth ₹1,338.03 crores from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) for the development of a utility-scale solar and battery energy storage project in Uttar Pradesh, further strengthening its position in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
The company disclosed in a stock exchange filing that it has received a Notification of Award (NoA) from NTPC REL for the EPC package covering a 250 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project integrated with a 50 MW/200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.
The project will be executed over a period of 18 months from the receipt of the Notification of Award and is expected to play a significant role in supporting India’s transition towards cleaner and more reliable power generation. The integration of battery energy storage with utility-scale solar infrastructure is increasingly being adopted to improve grid flexibility, enhance renewable energy utilization and support round-the-clock power availability.

According to Bondada Engineering, the award reflects the continued confidence of one of India’s leading public sector renewable energy companies in the firm’s engineering expertise, project execution capabilities and track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
The latest contract has also strengthened Bondada’s renewable energy order book. Following the award, the company’s Solar EPC order book has expanded to approximately 5.5 GWp, while its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) order book has increased to nearly 1.1 GWh. The enhanced order pipeline is expected to improve revenue visibility and provide strong execution momentum over the coming years.
The Sitapur project represents another important milestone in the growing deployment of solar-plus-storage infrastructure across India. As utilities and developers increasingly seek solutions capable of delivering reliable renewable energy, large-scale battery storage is emerging as a critical component of future power systems.
Industry observers note that projects combining solar generation with battery storage are gaining momentum as India accelerates investments in renewable energy capacity, grid modernization and energy security. The NTPC REL project is expected to contribute to these objectives while reinforcing the role of integrated solar and storage solutions in the country’s clean energy transition.
For Bondada Engineering, the award not only adds a marquee project to its portfolio but also strengthens its credentials in the fast-growing solar and energy storage segments, positioning the company for further opportunities in the evolving renewable energy market.
