REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has advanced two major power transmission projects to the next stage with the formal handover of their project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to the successful bidders. On 23rd September, 2026, Barmer HVDC Power Transmission Limited was handed over to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), while Sakoli Power Transmission Limited was transferred to Ashoka Buildcon Limited for the development of the respective transmission projects. Both SPVs were awarded through RECPDCL’s tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) framework. The handover was carried out by Shri Rajkumar Sonkar, Head of Department (CS), RECPDCL, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, the successful bidder companies and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL). RECPDCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Power.

Barmer HVDC Power Transmission Limited – Handed Over To M/s. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited

The Barmer HVDC transmission project has entered its next phase with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) taking charge of the project-specific SPV, Barmer HVDC Power Transmission Limited. PGCIL was selected through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL to develop the Inter-State HVDC Transmission Project, “Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-5: 6 GW) [Barmer Complex] Barmer-II: Power Evacuation from 6 GW (Solar) (LCC Configuration),” under the BOOT model. Shri Rajkumar Sonkar, Head of Department (CS), RECPDCL, formally handed over the SPV to Shri Akhilesh Pathak, OSD (Projects), PGCIL. The ceremony was attended by Shri Prince Dhawan, IAS, CEO, RECPDCL, Shri Pankaj Pandey, OSD (Operations), PGCIL, and other senior officials from PGCIL, RECPDCL and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL).

Sakoli Power Transmission Limited – Handed over to M/s. Ashoka Buildcon Limited

The Sakoli transmission project in Maharashtra is set to progress towards implementation with Ashoka Buildcon Limited taking over the project-specific SPV, Sakoli Power Transmission Limited. The company was selected through RECPDCL’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process to develop the “Establishment of 400/220/132 kV AIS Sakoli (District Bhandara)” project under the BOOT model. Mr. Rajkumar Sonkar, Head of Department (CS), RECPDCL, formally handed over the SPV to Mr. Rajendra Burad, COO, Ashoka Buildcon Limited, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Ashoka Buildcon and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL).

The Sakoli project will establish a new AIS at Sakoli with two 500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs and two 315 MVA, 400/132 kV ICTs. The associated transmission network will include a 220 kV double-circuit line between Sakoli and Bhandara and 132 kV double-circuit lines connecting Sakoli with Deori and Moragaon Arjuni, along with other supporting works. The project is targeted for completion within 24 months.
