IIT Bhubaneswar has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Banashree Semiconductors to expand collaboration in semiconductor research, industry-oriented education, training and innovation.
The partnership is designed to bring academic research closer to the evolving requirements of the semiconductor industry, combining IIT Bhubaneswar’s academic and research expertise with Banashree Semiconductors’ capabilities in advanced silicon-node technologies, low-power chip design and power, performance and area (PPA) optimization. The company also works on reduced transistor-count architectures for system-on-chip (SoC) applications.
Under the agreement, IIT Bhubaneswar students will have opportunities for internships, project work, training and research at Banashree Semiconductors. Engineers and scientists from the company will also participate in joint research projects, academic interactions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The two organizations will also work together on workshops, seminars, conferences, short-term courses and collaborative research publications. The five-year agreement includes joint R&D projects, design optimization flows, faculty and student exchanges, internships and specialized training programmes.
The collaboration will further explore externally funded research and consultancy projects, while providing opportunities for shared access to computing resources, design tools, laboratory facilities, testing infrastructure and research equipment.

The partnership is expected to strengthen academia-industry engagement, support the development of semiconductor talent and advance research in semiconductor design and allied technologies.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Vijay Shankar Pasupureddi, Dean, Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC), IIT Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Chandramohan Umapathy, Director, Banashree Semiconductors, in the presence of IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar.
