Germany’s transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy future is accelerating, with utility-scale battery storage playing an increasingly vital role in balancing renewable power and strengthening grid stability. Reflecting this growing momentum, Envision Energy and Elements Green have partnered on the 1,600MWh Stadorf BESS, a landmark battery energy storage project designed to support large-scale renewable energy integration and help advance Germany’s evolving energy infrastructure. The collaboration underscores the rising importance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in building flexible, reliable and sustainable power networks for the future.

Key Highlights

  • Envision Energy and Elements Green partner on the 1,600MWh Stadorf BESS project in Germany.
  • One of Germany’s largest battery energy storage projects currently under development.
  • Powered by Envision’s AI-enabled Gen 8 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) platform.
  • Designed to strengthen grid flexibility and renewable energy integration.
  • Supports Germany’s long-term energy transition and low-carbon infrastructure goals.

Why This Project Matters

Utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are becoming a cornerstone of Europe’s renewable energy transition. Projects such as the Stadorf BESS help balance variable renewable generation, enhance grid stability and improve energy security by storing excess electricity for use during periods of high demand. As Germany continues to expand its renewable energy capacity, large-scale battery storage will play an increasingly important role in creating a more flexible, reliable and resilient power system.

As part of the collaboration, Envision Energy will deploy its latest AI-powered Gen 8 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) platform to deliver an integrated storage solution for the Stadorf project. Featuring four-hour storage duration, advanced battery technology and intelligent grid integration capabilities, the system is designed to support large-scale renewable energy deployment while meeting Germany’s demanding standards for quality, reliability and technical performance.

At 400MW/1,600MWh, Stadorf is one of Germany’s largest battery storage projects currently under development, requiring advanced engineering, grid integration and regulatory expertise. The project is expected to strengthen large-scale energy storage infrastructure while supporting Germany’s long-term clean energy ambitions.

Henry Peng, Senior Vice President, Envision Energy & President of EU & LATAM Regions said: “What makes this partnership stand out is the close collaboration between two teams that share deep roots in the German market and a common commitment to technical excellence. By combining Elements Green’s strong local presence with Envision’s advanced Gen 8 BESS platform, AI-powered Future Energy System and proven global delivery experience, we have been able to address the complex engineering, regulatory and grid integration challenges that define large-scale storage projects in Germany. This collaboration demonstrates how local expertise and global capability can work together to accelerate the deployment of flexible, resilient and future-ready energy infrastructure.”

Rasmus Friis, CEO of Elements Green added: “Battery storage is central to Germany’s energy transition, and the scale of that opportunity demands the best available technology. Stadorf is an important project for Germany’s energy transition and reflects the growing need for flexible, reliable and high-quality storage infrastructure.

Germany is integrating more renewable energy than almost any other market in Europe, and storage is what makes that power flexible, dispatchable and genuinely useful to the grid. At Elements Green, we are committed to selecting partners and platforms that deliver the highest standards of performance, efficiency and longevity, because these are long-life assets and the decisions we make at the outset define outcomes for decades.

Envision brings advanced technology, a strong understanding of the local market and proven international delivery experience, giving us confidence in a project of this scale and complexity. Stadorf reflects our shared commitment to delivering infrastructure that performs at the highest level for the long term, and we are proud to be working with Envision to bring it to life.
