SAEL has marked a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector with the foundation stone laying of its upcoming integrated solar manufacturing facility in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

The foundation stone for the ₹8,200 crore project was laid by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during an event held in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region. The ceremony marks the commencement of development of what is expected to become one of India’s major integrated solar manufacturing facilities.

The project is being developed by SAEL Solar P6 Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of SAEL Industries, on approximately 200 acres of land in Jewar. Once operational, the facility will have a planned manufacturing capacity of 10 GW, comprising 5 GW of solar cell manufacturing and 5 GW of solar module manufacturing.

The upcoming manufacturing ecosystem is expected to produce high-efficiency solar cells and modules to support India’s rapidly growing renewable energy market while strengthening the country’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.

According to information shared by the company, the project is expected to generate around 20,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to industrial development and economic activity in the region. The investment is also expected to reinforce Uttar Pradesh’s growing position as a preferred destination for clean energy manufacturing and large-scale industrial projects.

Located within the YEIDA region, the facility is strategically positioned near the upcoming Noida International Airport, an area that has attracted significant investments across manufacturing, logistics and infrastructure in recent years.

The integrated solar manufacturing project aligns with India’s broader efforts to expand domestic production of renewable energy equipment, reduce import dependence and strengthen the country’s clean energy supply chain. With demand for locally manufactured solar components continuing to rise, investments of this scale are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting India’s energy transition.

The latest development builds on SAEL’s previously announced plans to establish the integrated manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh, with the foundation stone ceremony marking the beginning of the project’s execution phase.
