MAHLE and Rohde & Schwarz have collaborated to develop a new solution designed to enable reliable testing of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) sensors after vehicle repairs. The system combines MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility’s TechPRO Digital ADAS 2.0 Extra calibration platform with the R&S RadEsT radar tester from Rohde & Schwarz, a specialist in electronic measurement and communications technologies.

The solution addresses a longstanding challenge in the automotive sector, where standardized methods for verifying the performance of ADAS sensors following accident repairs or bodywork modifications have been limited. By introducing a more consistent testing approach, the companies aim to support accurate sensor validation and vehicle safety.

The platform is intended for a broad range of stakeholders, including repair workshops, service providers, vehicle manufacturers, insurance companies, regulatory authorities, and inspection agencies. In the future, the technology could also support static ADAS sensor inspections as part of periodic vehicle testing programs.

MAHLE and Rohde & Schwarz are scheduled to showcase the new application at TÜV MobiCon 2026 in Berlin on June 11, 2026.

“With this innovation, we are taking driver assistance systems to the next level. For the first time, their functionality after a repair becomes measurable, traceable, and standardizable. This is not only a technological advancement — it is a decisive step toward greater safety, transparency, and trust across the entire mobility ecosystem,” said Felix-Matthias Walter, Director Service Solutions at MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility.

“This is a milestone for vehicle safety. Our radar measurement technology is already used worldwide in automotive development and production. Together with MAHLE, we are now bringing this level of measurement accuracy directly into the workshop,” explained Matthias Beer, Director Imaging Sensor Products at Rohde & Schwarz.

The solution is built around MAHLE’s TechPRO Digital ADAS 2.0 Extra calibration platform, which incorporates ultrasonic technology to accurately position vehicles from within the cabin. Features such as automated vehicle recognition, laser-assisted distance measurement, and motorized target alignment help streamline the calibration process. The system also includes an advanced display lift mechanism designed to support precise calibration of larger and taller vehicles.

Complementing the platform is the R&S RadEsT radar tester from Rohde & Schwarz, which extends testing capabilities beyond conventional calibration systems. The device enables functions including radar frequency analysis, polarization detection, power measurement, and simulation of targets and angles. When integrated with the MAHLE TechPRO 2 diagnostic tool, the solution allows technicians to assess radar sensor performance and verify proper sensor alignment following repair work or collision-related damage.

The jointly developed technology is designed to address multiple use cases across the automotive sector. Repair facilities can use the system to document and confirm that driver assistance systems continue to operate as intended after maintenance or accident repairs. It also supports quality assurance and performance validation by enabling the simulation of both normal and fault conditions. In addition, the platform produces consistent and traceable measurement records that could support future vehicle inspection programs, regulatory compliance requirements, and insurance-related evaluations.
