Edited Excerpts Below:

  • You recently secured an order for 2,500 Wolf+ electric scooters from SpeedforcEV for nationwide fleet deployment. What is the strategic importance of this order for Wardwizard and how will it impact your market presence in the delivery / fleet segment?

We see the order from SpeedforcEV as a defining step in accelerating India’s EV adoption journey and supporting the government’s target of 30% EV penetration by 2030. Last-mile delivery fleets sit at the center of this transition. Their high daily usage, strong urban visibility, and significant share of vehicle kilometers make electrification in this segment one of the most effective levers for reducing emissions and operating costs, especially as mandates to shift delivery fleets to electric gather pace.

Leading quick-commerce players such as Flipkart, Amazon, Zepto, and Zomato are already moving rapidly to electrify gig-worker fleets to improve sustainability and economics. Our approach goes beyond supplying vehicles. We deliver a complete fleet ecosystem, covering end-to-end operations, maintenance through a wide service network, and integrated solutions for charging, financing, and telematics. This zero-downtime, one-stop model enables fleet operators to scale efficiently while improving productivity and revenue.

Fleet partnerships represent a strategic growth engine for Wardwizard. They bring bulk volumes, consistent nationwide visibility at the last mile, and repeat business across regions that remain under-penetrated. With an existing commitment of 15,000 EVs by FY 2027, we are already building a strong foundation. These deployments will generate valuable performance insights to refine future offerings and unlock further opportunities with quick-commerce platforms and logistics partners. Together, this positions Wardwizard as a preferred OEM for electrifying India’s delivery fleets, aligned with the rapid growth of e-commerce and urban mobility.

  • With the new partnership with Battery Smart to roll out battery-swapping infrastructure for Joy e-bikes, how do you expect this model to influence adoption, affordability, and customer convenience for EV users?

The partnership with Battery Smart marks a major step in making Joy e-bikes more accessible by introducing a flexible battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model. It directly tackles the two biggest barriers to EV adoption: high upfront costs driven by batteries and range anxiety caused by long charging times.

Batteries account for a large share of an EV’s cost, pushing prices up, while conventional charging takes 4–5 hours and creates downtime. Under this model, customers can purchase select Joy e-bikes, starting with Globe and Gen Next, without the battery. This reduces upfront costs by 20–30% through a pay-as-you-use rental approach, while enabling quick 2–3 minute battery swaps for instant access to a fully charged vehicle.

By separating battery ownership from the vehicle, EV ownership becomes more affordable and predictable. Total cost of ownership drops through efficient swaps, and dealers and distributors can host swapping stations, creating new revenue streams. Battery Smart will roll out its advanced swapping infrastructure across select Joy e-bike dealerships in key metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with plans to scale nationwide, supporting commuters and delivery riders alike.

With access to over 1,500 Battery Smart swap stations and partner locations, riders can swap batteries almost as quickly as refuelling a petrol vehicle. App-based access and tracking remove the need for route planning, offering greater freedom and confidence for daily and long-distance use. This refuel-like reliability significantly improves the ownership experience and positions Joy e-bikes as truly hassle-free urban mobility solutions.

By addressing cost and range concerns head-on, this partnership lowers the entry barrier to EVs and creates a strong pathway for wider customer adoption, accelerating the shift to electric mobility.

  • In light of the battery-swap initiative, will Wardwizard adjust its product development and business model to support battery-as-a-service (BaaS) long-term?

Wardwizard will integrate Battery Smart’s swappable battery technology as an additional option in product development and business model, starting with Joy e-bike models like Globe and Gen Next, while expanding to more models under development.

We offer both fixed-battery and detachable/swappable battery variants across our lineup, allowing customers choice based on needs. The BaaS model complements this without replacing traditional sales, providing pay-as-you-use flexibility to lower entry barriers. This partnership marks the beginning of broader swappability and we’ve already initiated R&D on adapting existing models and upcoming ones for seamless integration. We’ll monitor real-world performance, user feedback, and market response to guide scaling and optimizations.

  • The recent deployment of 400 electric two-wheelers across major cities like Kolkata, Pune, and Ahmedabad demonstrates fleet expansion. What are your short-term goals around fleet growth and urban mobility coverage?

Our current goal is executing our committed 15,000-vehicle fleet order by FY 2027, ensuring on-time deliveries of models like Wolf+ to partners, including SpeedforcEV and XiCon. We aim to deepen fleet management capabilities through dedicated operations, telematics for uptime monitoring, and maintenance via our partners, targeting zero-downtime reliability for delivery partners. We’ve started deployment in Tier I Cities, and aim to make our presence in over 50 cities across India by the end of 2026.

  • How do you plan to manage operations, maintenance, and support at scale for these fleet deployments, particularly to ensure reliability and uptime for delivery partners?

We’ve come up with a 360° holistic ecosystem in India to manage fleet operations, maintenance, and support at scale, ensuring near-zero downtime for delivery partners via strategic industry partnerships.

Beyond vehicle deployment, we cover vehicle supply, 24/7 maintenance, spare parts availability, charging infrastructure, financing, and insurance, all seamlessly integrated. This is a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative in India, whereby, everything is covered under one roof. This proactive approach addresses every fleet need, from rider training to telematics monitoring.

Key Partnerships for Fleet:

  • SpeedforcEV: Handles maintenance and spare parts across 400+ touchpoints for maximum uptime;
  • Ampvolts Limited: Deploys charging infrastructure to keep vehicles powered;
  • Battery Smart: Enables quick battery swaps to eliminate downtime;
  • Mangalam Industrial Finance Limited: Provides flexible financing;
  • Bluebells Insurance Broking: Manages cashless insurance services;

This ecosystem smooths operations and boosts reliability.

  • Given these moves, how do you see Wardwizard differentiating itself in India’s increasingly competitive EV market, especially among fleet operators and budget-conscious customers?

India is an increasingly competitive EV market, with over 200 players in the electric two-wheeler segment, a handful of major OEMs, and several new entrants every year. We chose to differentiate by focusing on a high-demand segment that is struggling with fragmented solutions and multiple touchpoints, i.e., fleet owners and operators. High-volume EV usage has exposed critical pain points for them, from downtime and maintenance gaps to charging delays and capital lock-in, eating into already thin margins.

To address this, we have introduced a first-of-its-kind holistic 360° ecosystem that delivers virtually zero downtime while making EV adoption more affordable for fleet owners and operators. Our integrated solution covers vehicle supply, 24/7 maintenance, spare parts availability, charging and battery swapping, financing, insurance, and telematics through carefully chosen strategic partnerships, each designed to solve one specific pain point and smoothen the overall experience for fleet operators. As a result, demand for our vehicles has increased, as fleet owners now get everything under one roof and can keep their vehicles on the road for longer hours.

For budget-conscious customers and fleet partners, we also offer the option to purchase vehicles without batteries and use a flexible “pay-as-you-use” Battery-as-a-Service model, significantly reducing upfront costs while ensuring access to fully charged batteries whenever needed. We have partnered with SpeedforcEV and introduced a Fleet Rental Model that further strengthens this proposition. Instead of blocking large amounts of capital in fleet purchases, operators can switch to a rental model with predictable pay-per-use outflows, smooth operations, and steady cash inflows. This structure helps lower total cost of ownership while ensuring high uptime.

Together, this end-to-end smart mobility ecosystem empowers delivery partners and fleet operators with cost-effective scaling, higher uptime for revenue growth, and nationwide reach, positioning Wardwizard as an affordable, reliable choice in a crowded EV market, especially where competitors are unable to offer such an integrated solution.

  • Have you planned any further collaborations or initiatives (e.g. more battery-swapping stations, additional fleet orders, technology partnerships) in the near future to support accelerated growth?

Yes, we are actively pursuing additional collaborations and initiatives to accelerate growth, particularly by smoothing operations through strategic partnerships in charging, telematics, and fleet infrastructure. We have started operations in metro cities and we’ll explore more partnership opportunities this year to meet rising fleet demands in Tier II and III cities, with a strong focus on expanding charging infrastructure and deploying vehicles tailored for these markets.

We’ve signed with JioThings to enhance Joy e-bike connectivity, exploring their portfolio for:

  • Smart Fleet Management with real-time tracking and optimization;
  • EV Charging & Battery Swapping Infrastructure;
  • AI-powered analytics, telematics, and vehicle diagnostics.

This tie-up with JioThings will ensure predictive maintenance, fleet efficiency, and seamless operations, keeping vehicles up-to-date and preventing breakdowns through real-time monitoring and proactive interventions.

  • Looking ahead, what metrics or milestones will Wardwizard use to gauge success from these recent efforts in fleet deployment, battery-swapping adoption, and overall growth strategy?

We will measure success through concrete deployment volumes, operational efficiency, and market expansion milestones. The success of this model will be gauged primarily by deployment numbers in the next financial year, i.e. fulfilling our confirmed 15,000-vehicle order by FY 2026 while scaling up to 50,000 vehicles by FY 2027. We also plan to expand operational presence to over 50 cities by the end of 2026, beyond the current metros and Tier-1 locations. We are targeting over 90% vehicle uptime and measurable revenue growth for delivery partners through our 360° ecosystem.

The nationwide rollout will commence in January 2026 through Joy e-bike dealerships and 1,500+ Battery Smart locations. The pay-per-use model reduces vehicle costs, enhances customer adoption with 20-30% Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings, increases swap utilization revenue, and creates additional income streams for dealers. Integration begins with the Globe and Gen Next models and will gradually extend to additional variants.
