SGS has announced that its Pune Chakan laboratory has become the first automotive testing facility in India approved to deliver testing services under the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX). The development marks a significant step in strengthening India’s automotive information security capabilities while expanding SGS’ global TISAX network.
The recognition enables automotive manufacturers, suppliers and engineering organizations in India to access internationally recognized TISAX testing services locally, helping them meet evolving information security expectations across global automotive supply chains.
TISAX is an information security assessment framework designed specifically for the automotive industry. Developed by the German automotive sector and governed by the ENX Association, the framework provides a standardized approach for protecting confidential business information, engineering data and prototype vehicle information throughout the automotive value chain.

With connected vehicles, software-defined mobility and digital engineering generating increasing volumes of sensitive information, robust cybersecurity practices have become essential for manufacturers and suppliers worldwide. SGS said the approval reflects its commitment to safeguarding customer information and prototype data while delivering trusted assessment services that align with international industry requirements.
The company noted that organizations complying with TISAX requirements can demonstrate adherence to recognized information security standards across multiple automotive stakeholders. The framework supports manufacturers, suppliers, research and development organizations, logistics providers and service companies operating within the automotive ecosystem.
According to SGS, organizations adopting TISAX can benefit from:
- Reduced information security risks and stronger data governance;
- A standardized assessment accepted across multiple automotive manufacturers;
- The ability to share assessment results with multiple OEMs through the ENX portal, reducing duplicate audits and lowering compliance costs;
- Greater credibility as a trusted supplier in security-sensitive automotive programs;
- Alignment with prototype protection requirements and internationally recognized standards, including ISO 27001 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation;
- Improved access to international markets through globally recognized security practices.
The addition of the Pune Chakan laboratory further expands SGS’ international TISAX testing network, which also includes facilities in Shanghai, Suzhou and Tianjin in China, along with Gelting, Puchheim and Herten in Germany.
Commenting on the achievement, Shailesh Pandey, Automotive and Connectivity Director, SGS India said the expansion strengthens SGS’ ability to provide consistent TISAX testing services across regions while improving accessibility for customers in India.
“This expansion enhances our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality TISAX testing services globally while supporting regional growth. By expanding our capabilities into India, we are enabling customers to access trusted services locally, with the speed, accessibility and global alignment needed to succeed in today’s automotive supply chains.”
With the Pune laboratory now integrated into SGS’ global TISAX network, automotive organizations across India and neighbouring markets can access internationally aligned testing services closer to home, supporting faster assessments and improved participation in global automotive programs.
