Suzlon has announced the creation of a Group Executive Council (GEC), elevated J P Chalasani to the council, and appointed a new Group CEO as part of its plan to accelerate its transformation from a wind energy solutions provider into a full-spectrum renewable energy solutions company.
New Leadership Architecture
Suzlon has unveiled its ‘Suzlon 2.0’ vision, outlining a business transformation and expansion strategy aligned with the growing opportunities in the renewable energy landscape. Under this vision, the company aims to diversify beyond wind into solar, BESS, emerging technologies, and new business models to deliver integrated energy solutions to customers. To support this shift, Suzlon has introduced a new leadership and organizational structure. A Group Executive Council will serve as the strategic body guiding the company’s medium- and long-term growth agenda, while an Executive Management Council, led by the Group CEO, will drive operational transformation and sustainable business growth. The transition underscores Suzlon’s emphasis on structured succession, leadership continuity, and long-term value creation.
J.P. Chalasani elevated to Group Executive Council (GEC)
Under the new structure, J.P. Chalasani will work alongside the Chairman & Managing Director and Executive Vice Chairman within the GEC to steer critical strategic priorities. Drawing on his extensive sector experience, he will guide the senior leadership team, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and help develop and operationalize emerging business ventures. He will continue as a Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), reporting directly to the Chairman & Managing Director.
Ajay Kapur appointed as Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group
Bringing over 36 years of industry experience, Ajay Kapur takes on the role of Group CEO to steer Suzlon’s transformation and expansion journey. He has led major listed organizations across infrastructure, construction, power, and heavy metals for over a decade, delivering strong growth, operational efficiency, and financial resilience. Prior to joining Suzlon, he was the Managing Director of Ambuja Cements Limited (Adani Group). He will report directly to Chairman & Managing Director Vinod Tanti.

As the first Indian energy company to join Climate Group’s prestigious RE100 initiative, we have committed to sourcing 100% renewable energy across all our manufacturing facilities by 2030, while advancing the global implementation of 24/7 carbon-free electricity. Through these efforts, we are actively shaping sustainability standards across the energy sector. In addition, by becoming a member of EV100, we are targeting full electrification of our vehicle fleet by 2035 and aiming to reduce Scope 1 (direct and operational) emissions by 24%.
Suzlon has been evaluated by leading global ESG rating agencies, including S&P CSA, Sustainalytics, and ISS ESG, and has delivered sustainability performance that surpasses industry benchmarks worldwide. In FY24–25, the company achieved an 88.51% reduction in Scope 1 (direct and operational) and Scope 2 (indirect, from purchased electricity) emission intensity. It also attained 90.14% Zero Waste to Landfill, increased its renewable energy consumption, and recorded year-on-year reductions in energy, water, and waste intensity.
