Sahaj Solar Limited has approved plans to establish a BESS facility with a production and storage capacity of 1.8 GWh at Dakor, Gujarat, marking its planned entry into battery energy storage manufacturing. The proposed project involves an investment of approximately ₹25 crores, excluding the cost of the factory premises already constructed. The company expects to establish the facility within 12 months, with operations targeted for October 2027.
Sahaj Solar Plans 1.8 GWh Battery Storage Manufacturing Facility
The company’s board approved the proposal on October 19, 2026. The planned facility will manufacture Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for domestic and international markets, expanding Sahaj Solar’s presence beyond its existing solar energy business.
The proposed investment of approximately ₹25 crore will be financed through a combination of debt and internal accruals. The cost of the already constructed factory premises is excluded from the estimated project investment.
With a planned capacity of 1.8 GWh, the facility will add battery energy storage manufacturing to Sahaj Solar’s business portfolio. The project is expected to be developed over the next 12 months, with the company targeting October 2027 to commence operations.

Battery Storage Expansion to Broaden Sahaj Solar’s Portfolio
The planned BESS facility represents a move by Sahaj Solar to expand its presence across the renewable energy value chain. While solar power generation remains an important part of the clean energy sector, battery storage can help store electricity for later use and support the integration of renewable energy into power systems.
By entering battery energy storage manufacturing, Sahaj Solar aims to add another product segment to its existing business. The company plans to serve customers in India as well as overseas markets through the proposed facility.
The expansion also reflects the growing importance of energy storage technologies in renewable energy development, particularly as power systems seek ways to manage fluctuations in generation and electricity demand.
Gujarat Facility to Support Sahaj Solar’s Manufacturing Plans
Dakor in Gujarat has been identified as the location for the proposed BESS manufacturing facility. The project will use factory premises that have already been constructed, with the estimated ₹25 crores investment allocated separately from the cost of those premises.
The company plans to use debt and internal accruals to finance the project. The proposed facility is expected to be established within 12 months, with operations targeted for October 2027. Once operational, the planned 1.8 GWh capacity will mark Sahaj Solar’s entry into battery energy storage manufacturing and broaden its portfolio beyond solar-related products and services.
The next key milestone will be the development of the facility and the launch of its planned BESS product line for domestic and international markets.
