NXP Semiconductors has announced new robotics solutions designed to deliver secure, reliable, real-time data processing, advanced networking, and high-performance control. These solutions support key capabilities such as sensor fusion, machine vision, and precision motor control. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, this first wave of NXP’s foundational robotics offerings integrates the NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge with NXP’s highly integrated system-on-chip platforms. The result is a reduction in discrete components, leading to smaller system size, lower power consumption, reduced costs, and simplified software for robotic sensing and actuation, including applications in humanoid robots.

Physical AI represents the next stage of innovation, enabling machines to sense, interpret, and interact with their environments with greater precision, reliability, and safety. Humanoid robots exemplify this advancement but require highly secure, low-latency data processing and communication across the entire system to achieve coordinated motion, advanced sensor fusion, and precise actuation.

To address these demands, NXP’s integrated robot body solutions deliver edge intelligence combined with low-latency networking for secure, real-time communication. By incorporating the NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge into its software ecosystem, NXP enables developers to implement real-time processing more efficiently and establish direct data pathways between the robot’s body and specific regions of its central processing system. This approach significantly reduces latency and simplifies the complexities of deploying AI in real-world, time-sensitive environments.

Charles Dachs, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Secure Connected Edge, NXP Semiconductors said, “Physical AI is redefining what machines can do in the real world, and humanoid robots represent the most complex expression of that revolution. By combining NXP’s deep expertise in edge processing, secure networking, functional safety and real-time control with NVIDIA robotics platforms, we are greatly simplifying physical AI development, enabling seamless connectivity between the physical AI edge and the central brain. This is just the beginning of what NXP will deliver to accelerate the ecosystem for physical AI.”

Deepu Talla, Vice President of Robotics and Edge AI, NVIDIA said, “The development of autonomous machines requires a high-performance computing architecture that can synchronize complex motor controls with real-time perception. By integrating NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge into its edge portfolio, NXP is providing developers with a scalable foundation to accelerate the deployment of physical AI.”

The collaboration between NXP Semiconductors and NVIDIA establishes a unified architecture for full-body humanoid robotics. By combining NXP’s edge processors, motor control microcontrollers, automotive-grade networking technologies, high-throughput asymmetric data transport capabilities from Aviva Links, and decades of functional safety expertise with NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure, the solution delivers a flexible, energy-efficient platform for next-generation robotic systems.

The first NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge-ready solutions in NXP Semiconductors’ robotics portfolio include a machine vision platform built on the i.MX 95 applications processor, designed to deliver high-bandwidth data to the robot’s central processing system. The portfolio also features a motor control solution based on a kinematic chain of i.MX RT1180 crossover microcontrollers, integrated through NXP’s S32J TSN switch for direct connectivity to the central system.

This motor control solution supports widely used industrial protocols such as EtherCAT and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). Together, these flexible, software-driven solutions are highly integrated to reduce system size, power consumption, and cost, while maintaining performance, safety, and security. They provide a scalable foundation for full-body humanoid robot design.
