Edited Excerpts Below:
- Please introduce Kyra Photon and its core mission in renewable energy space.
Kyra Photon Tech Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian renewable energy company founded in 2010 and incorporated as a private limited entity in 2013, headquartered in Chennai. The company focuses on promoting, developing, and implementing renewable energy technologies, with a strong emphasis on solar energy solutions across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.
Core Mission:
- To unlock the full potential of solar energy by delivering highly efficient, State-of-the-Art solar solutions tailored to customer needs;
- To contribute meaningfully to India’s clean energy transition by deploying advanced solar technology and achieving substantial installed capacity targets (e.g., aiming for 1 GW by 2030.
- In your view, what makes Kyra Photon different from other solar solutions providers in India?
Kyra Photon distinguishes itself from many competitors in the Indian solar market in several ways:
- Technology Partnerships and Innovation:
Kyra Photon partners with global technology players to integrate advanced components and solutions into its projects, helping deliver efficient and durable systems. - Turn-Key Project Delivery:
The company handles everything from feasibility studies and design to installation and after-sales service, aiming to provide a seamless experience - Custom Solutions:
Whether for rooftops, ground-mounted utility systems, hybrid PV-DG setups, or robotic cleaning integration, Kyra Photon emphasizes tailored solutions based on site conditions and client requirements. - Strong After-Sales Focus:
Customer satisfaction and service support are core parts of its ethos, which helps build long-term client relationships.
- You offer rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects. How does your approach differ for each type of installation?
Our approach to rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects is driven by specialization, standardization, and strong engineering discipline. We have dedicated, specialized teams for both rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations. Each team operates based on well-defined, fully documented protocols and procedures, ensuring consistency, safety, and high performance across all projects.
For rooftop solar projects, our design and execution strategy varies based on the type of roof:
- Metal sheet roofs and civil (RCC) roofs require different structural assessments, mounting systems, and load calculations;
- Accordingly, the system design, mounting methodology, and execution process are customized to suit the roof type while ensuring structural integrity, optimal tilt, and long-term reliability.
For ground-mounted solar projects, we deploy both:
- Fixed-tilt structures, and
- Single-axis tracking systems
Each option involves a different mounting design, foundation approach, and engineering philosophy, and delivers varying energy yields and performance outcomes. The selection depends on site conditions, land availability, cost considerations, and the client’s generation objectives.
This structured, protocol-driven approach combined with specialized teams allows us to deliver optimized, reliable, and scalable solar solutions across diverse installation environments.
- Could you explain how robotic cleaning and PV-DG synchronization work, and how they improve solar system efficiency?
This technology is particularly relevant for hybrid energy environments where solar generation is paired with a diesel generator backup. (common in regions with grid unreliability)
How It Works:
- A PV-DG controller/synchronizer monitors solar output, DG output, and load demand in real time;
- It ensures the DG runs at an efficient baseline load and adjusts PV output in sync with system requirements;
- Without proper synchronization, excess solar power can back-feed into a DG or destabilize the system.
Efficiency Improvements:
- Maximizes solar energy utilization before DG load is increased;
- Reduces DG fuel consumption by letting solar carry more of the load;
- Protects inverters from over-frequency and prevents damage due to unsynchronized power sources.
- Many businesses still hesitate to shift to solar. What do you think holds them back, and how do you help overcome those challenges?
Even with clear economic and environmental advantages, some businesses hesitate to adopt solar due to:
Common Barriers:
- Upfront Costs: Initial capex can be a barrier for small and mid-sized enterprises;
- Uncertainty About ROI: Hesitation around payback periods and long-term performance.
- Technical Concerns: Worries about reliability, maintenance, and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Operational Disruption: Fear of downtime during installation.
How Kyra Photon Helps Overcome These:
- Custom Financial Solutions: Facilitates finance options (e.g., PFC partnerships) to ease upfront investment.
- Detailed Feasibility & Design Support: Helps customers understand site potential and expected ROI.
- Technology Assurance: Use of modern components and hybrid systems (PV-DG sync, robotic cleaning) to ensure reliability and performance.
- End-to-End Support: From permitting to after-sales maintenance, reducing risk and complexity for clients.
- What trends or new technologies do you see shaping the future of solar energy in India?
The solar industry in India is evolving quickly on many fronts. Key trends and technologies we see shaping the next decade include:
Advanced PV Technologies:
- Bifacial and high-efficiency modules that capture sunlight from both sides and improve energy yield.
- Perovskite and tandem cells for next-gen efficiency improvements.
- Floating solar farms that maximize land use and improve panel performance.
Energy Storage & Smart Integration:
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS) — lowering costs and enabling solar power to be used after sunset.
- Smart grid integration and digital monitoring — improving reliability and real-time energy dispatch.
Hybrid and IoT-Enabled Solutions:
- Solar + storage + digital control solutions for industrial and commercial users.
- AI/IoT performance analytics that optimize yield, predictive maintenance, and automated operations.
Policy and Market Trends
- Continued government incentives and ambitious national targets (e.g., 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030).
- Growth in rooftop solar adoption, especially with favourable net-metering and fiscal incentives.
These trends are driving down costs, enhancing reliability, and expanding the reach of solar energy across India’s diverse markets.
- Could you share one project or success story that makes you particularly proud?
