Alpex Solar Ltd. has taken another step in expanding its solar manufacturing capabilities by filing an application with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for the inclusion of its 2.2 GW TOPCon G12 cell manufacturing facility in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II, according to a regulatory filing submitted with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The application relates to the company’s manufacturing unit located at Kosi Kotwan Extension-II, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where Alpex Solar has established its advanced TOPCon G12 cell production facility.

MNRE Acknowledges the Application

According to the filing, the Ministry has formally acknowledged receipt of Alpex Solar’s application, which is currently under evaluation in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. The company stated that it will keep the stock exchanges and investors informed of any material developments regarding the application in line with applicable regulatory requirements.

Inside the 2.2 GW TOPCon Facility

The application covers Alpex Solar’s 2.2 GW TOPCon G12 cell manufacturing unit, which represents one of the company’s key investments aimed at strengthening domestic solar cell production.

TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology has gained industry attention for delivering higher energy conversion efficiency and improved performance compared with conventional solar cell technologies, making it increasingly popular across utility-scale and commercial solar projects.

Understanding ALMM List-II

The Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II is maintained by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and relates to eligible solar cell manufacturers under the government’s regulatory framework. Inclusion in the list can support manufacturers participating in projects where compliance with MNRE requirements is applicable, while also strengthening confidence in domestically manufactured solar products. It is important to note that Alpex Solar’s application is currently under review, and the filing does not indicate that approval has been granted at this stage.

Industry Outlook

India continues to expand its domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem as the country works towards increasing renewable energy capacity and strengthening local supply chains.

Growing investments in advanced technologies such as TOPCon solar cells are expected to improve manufacturing capabilities while supporting the government’s broader clean energy and self-reliance objectives. As the sector evolves, regulatory approvals and manufacturing scale are likely to remain important milestones for companies looking to expand their presence in India’s renewable energy market.
