ABB has officially completed its acquisition of Specialtrasfo S.p.A., an Italian manufacturer specializing in medium voltage transformers for industrial applications. The move strengthens ABB’s electrification portfolio by adding advanced converter and rectifier transformer capabilities, helping the company meet growing global demand for reliable power conversion technologies.

The acquisition includes three manufacturing facilities in Italy and a workforce of more than 130 employees. Specialtrasfo generated approximately €80 million in revenue during 2025, with nearly half of that business already linked to ABB through integrated customer solutions. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Demand for electricity continues to rise worldwide, increasing the need for efficient and dependable transformer technologies across multiple industries. By integrating Specialtrasfo into its operations, ABB enhances its ability to supply specialized transformer solutions while strengthening supply chain resilience for customers operating in sectors such as energy, mining, metals, industrial processing and offshore applications.
