NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited bids for the development of a 600 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV project in Maharashtra’s Dhule region. The tender forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen India’s clean energy infrastructure.

The tender covers the Land and Power Evacuation Package for the proposed solar project and has been issued through a domestic competitive bidding process. According to the bid documents, the selected contractor will be responsible for arranging land, developing the power evacuation infrastructure, and undertaking associated engineering and construction activities for the project.

Under the land package, bidders are required to arrange approximately 5 acres of government or private land per MW on a freehold or leasehold basis near the Dhule ISTS pooling substation. The lease period must be a minimum of 29 years and 11 months. The scope also includes land surveys, site preparation, approach roads, fencing, security infrastructure, and lease management services.

The power evacuation scope includes the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 220 kV AIS pooling substations, tie transformers, 33 kV pooling switchgear, associated civil works, EHV transmission lines up to the ISTS substation, terminal bays, telemetry systems, power plant controllers, monitoring systems and mandatory spares. The selected bidder will also be responsible for operation and maintenance of the evacuation infrastructure for three years after project commissioning.

NTPC REL has indicated that the project will be financed through its own resources and borrowings. The company has also specified technical qualification requirements for bidders, including prior experience in land aggregation for utility-scale solar or wind projects or execution of large industrial projects meeting prescribed financial criteria.

The tender underscores NTPC REL’s commitment to accelerating renewable energy deployment and supporting India’s energy transition goals. Once commissioned, the 600 MW solar project is expected to contribute significantly to clean power generation capacity in Maharashtra while strengthening interstate renewable energy transmission infrastructure.
