Mahindra Susten, a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in renewable energy, has successfully commissioned 560 MWp of utility solar capacity in CY 2025, reinforcing its leadership in large-scale clean power development. These landmark projects mark the company’s continued expansion in utility solar infrastructure and represent the first set of assets commissioned following the 2024 sale of 1.54 GWp to the Sustainable Energy Infra Trust, an InvIT co-sponsored by Mahindra Susten under its capital-light growth strategy.
The newly added capacity comprises two 280 MWp utility solar power plants, strategically located in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Both facilities operate under 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL), ensuring long-term energy supply stability, consistent performance, and value creation within India’s growing renewable energy ecosystem.
Project Overview
Spanning nearly 2,000 acres, the Gujarat and Rajasthan projects are designed to deliver reliable, utility-scale solar power to regional grids. Each site features next-generation N-Type TOPCon bifacial modules, high-efficiency inverters, and automated dry-cleaning systems, all integrated through an optimized balance-of-system design to maximize energy output throughout the project lifecycle. Power is transmitted via 220 kV substations, enabling smooth connectivity with high-voltage grids and strong network resilience.
Collectively, the 560 MWp portfolio is projected to generate approximately 1,000 million units (MUs) of clean electricity annually. Construction required around 12,400 tonnes of steel, 2,600 km of cabling, and 1 million solar modules. The projects were executed with a peak workforce of 1,000 people and completed with 2.9 million safe man-hours, reflecting Mahindra Susten’s commitment to safety, precision engineering, and disciplined project delivery.
Avinash Rao, MD & CEO of Mahindra Susten, said: “Commissioning 560 MWp across Gujarat and Rajasthan in 2025 marks yet another major milestone for Mahindra Susten. It reflects our strong execution capabilities and commitment to delivering large-scale renewable assets safely and to the highest standards of quality. Building on 15 years of expertise, we are deepening our presence across utility-scale solar and wind, storage, hybrid, and group-captive projects, reinforcing our pledge to support our nation’s clean energy goals and create lasting value for communities and stakeholders.”
Building Momentum: 2026 and Beyond
Building on the successful commissioning of 560 MWp of solar capacity in Gujarat and Rajasthan, Mahindra Susten is further accelerating its renewable energy growth with several large-scale projects under development across Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. These initiatives underscore the company’s continued focus on expanding its national clean energy footprint and supporting India’s transition toward a sustainable power ecosystem.
Mahindra Susten’s diverse project pipeline spans utility-scale PPAs, hybrid wind–solar renewable solutions, and group-captive open-access projects, reflecting a strategic, technology-agnostic approach to addressing India’s evolving energy needs. This integrated portfolio positions the company to meet growing utility and industrial demand for reliable, affordable clean power while ensuring flexibility across multiple market segments.
