Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced the VOx619A series of phototransistor optocouplers engineered to deliver a high, linear current transfer ratio (CTR) across a wide temperature range while operating at a low forward current of just 0.5 mA. Designed for reliable performance in demanding environments, the devices support operation up to +125 °C and are available in four package options: DIL-4, long-creepage LSOP-4, compact SOP-4, and half-pitch SSOP-4. The series is tailored to provide improved accuracy and enhanced energy efficiency in industrial applications.
With 50% lower forward current compared to previous-generation solutions, the new optocouplers help reduce overall power consumption, enabling more energy-efficient system designs. They are optimized for signal transmission with galvanic and noise isolation in DC/DC converters, programmable logic controllers, and power supplies across micro mobility, industrial, energy metering, telecom, and consumer applications. The devices are also well suited for systems with limited current-driving capability, including microcontroller-based designs.
In conventional optocouplers, the current transfer ratio (CTR) can fall to below 50% of its specified value at 25 °C. In contrast, the VOx619A series maintains a CTR of greater than 75% across its extended temperature range. This stable and linear performance supports high-fidelity signal transmission, making the devices well suited for applications that demand precise and reliable data handling. While earlier-generation solutions typically supported temperatures up to +110 °C, and many standard optocouplers are rated only to +85 °C, the VOx619A series operates reliably up to +125 °C, ensuring consistent performance in harsh industrial environments.
The VOx619A devices incorporate an infrared LED optically coupled to a phototransistor detector to provide effective signal isolation. Versions in the DIL-4 and LSOP-4 packages offer a maximum isolation voltage of 5000 VRMS, with creepage and clearance distances of at least 7 mm and 8 mm, respectively. For space-constrained designs, the compact SOP-4 and SSOP-4 packages provide isolation up to 3750 VRMS with creepage and clearance distances of 5 mm or more. All devices in the series are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and certified as Vishay Green.

Samples and production quantities of the VOx619A series are available now, with lead times of eight weeks.
