AI robotics technology company RoboSense has announced that its advanced digital LiDAR solutions will power the upcoming Robotaxi GXR developed by autonomous driving company WeRide in collaboration with Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, a subsidiary of Geely. The companies plan to begin production of the Robotaxi GXR in the third quarter of 2026, with approximately 2,000 units expected to roll off the production line for deployment across domestic and international markets.

The new robotaxi platform will feature WeRide’s latest autonomous driving system, GEN8. At the core of this platform is the company’s Sensor Suite 8.0, which integrates RoboSense’s high-performance digital LiDAR technologies designed to improve perception and operational safety. The system includes RoboSense’s EM4 digital LiDAR as the primary perception sensor. Introduced in early 2025, EM4 is designed to support thousand-beam-level configurations and can be customized with up to 2,160 beams. The technology significantly increases point cloud density and offers a detection range of up to 600 meters, helping autonomous vehicles detect obstacles earlier and respond more effectively in complex driving environments.

Complementing the main LiDAR is RoboSense’s E1 fully solid-state digital LiDAR, designed specifically to address near-field blind spots. With a wide field of view of 120° by 90°, the E1 sensor enhances short-range perception and supports safer maneuvering in dense urban conditions. Together, the EM4 and E1 configuration provides a combination of long-range detection and near-field coverage, enabling reliable perception capabilities even in challenging weather conditions such as heavy rain or fog.

The collaboration highlights the continued push toward scalable Level 4 autonomous mobility. As of early 2026, WeRide reported that its Robotaxi fleet had surpassed 1,000 vehicles globally. With the addition of the new GXR units equipped with RoboSense LiDAR systems, the company expects its operational fleet to expand significantly.

WeRide currently operates robotaxi services in several major cities, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh, Beijing, and Guangzhou, as part of its effort to expand autonomous mobility services internationally. RoboSense has also been strengthening its role within the autonomous driving ecosystem. The company says it collaborates with a large share of the world’s leading Level 4 autonomous driving developers, providing perception technologies that support the next generation of robotaxi platforms.
