Pony AI Inc., a global pioneer in autonomous mobility commercialization, has announced an expanded partnership with Sunlight Mobility to roll out an asset-light operational model. This collaboration marks a key milestone in Pony.ai’s strategy to establish a scalable, capital-efficient, and rapidly deployable mobility ecosystem, accelerating the Company’s fleet expansion and market growth. Building on their initial collaboration launched in June 2024, Pony.ai has entered a new agreement with Sunlight Mobility, one of China’s leading mobility service platform operators with a presence in over 180 cities. Under the new asset-light model, Sunlight Mobility will finance Pony.ai’s Gen-7 Robotaxi fleet, beginning with an initial deployment in Guangzhou by the end of 2025. The partners plan to extend this model to additional cities across China in the following years.
This strategic partnership underscores the increasing market confidence in Pony.ai’s Robotaxi business model, as more third-party operators are choosing to fund vehicle fleets and adopt Pony.ai’s Virtual Driver technology for commercial use, further validating the company’s innovative approach to autonomous mobility.
Sunlight Mobility brings deep expertise in digital mobility platform operations, including huge user traffic, product feature development, and fleet supply dispatch, all of which play a crucial role in enhancing user experience and boosting operational efficiency. In particular, the collaborative autonomous driving vehicle (“ADV”) fleet supply will be integrated in both Pony.ai and Sunlight Mobility’s platforms, making both parties share economic benefits and creating a win-win situation.
