Pico Technology, a leading innovator in PC-based test and measurement solutions, has announced the expansion of its PicoScope 9400A Series of high-bandwidth sampling oscilloscopes. Purpose-built for the demanding requirements of high-speed electronics, advanced communications, semiconductor research, and high-energy physics, the extended lineup now offers unmatched versatility and precision.
Building on Pico’s proprietary SXRTO technology, the updated 9400A Series introduces three new models, joining the existing 25 GHz version. The expanded range now includes 6 GHz, 16 GHz, 25 GHz, and a new flagship 33 GHz model. Designed for high-performance signal fidelity, the 33 GHz scope achieves sub-12 picosecond rise and fall times, enabling ultra-precise analysis of fast digital transitions. All models feature four input channels, 12-bit vertical resolution, and an industry-leading jitter specification below 1.5 ps RMS—essential for exacting time-domain measurements in cutting-edge research environments.
To enhance signal analysis in clock-dependent systems, the PicoScope 9400A Series offers an optional clock recovery function, enabling users to extract a timing reference directly from a data stream when an external trigger is unavailable.
Each oscilloscope is powered by PicoSample 4 software for Windows, delivering advanced waveform visualization, timing analysis, and protocol inspection. Key capabilities include pulse and eye diagram measurements for RZ, NRZ, and PAM4 encoded data—supporting in-depth exploration of high-speed digital communications.
“The new sampling oscilloscope series reflects Pico Technology’s commitment to delivering powerful, accessible and cost-effective solutions for engineers and researchers working at the forefront of technology,” said Trevor Smith, Product Manager at Pico Technology. “We’ve combined exceptional performance with ease of use, making these instruments ideal for lab environments where flexibility, space and budget are often at a premium.”
These new oscilloscopes are particularly well-suited to professionals in semiconductor and materials research, high-speed communications and high-energy physics, where accurate waveform capture and signal integrity (SI) analysis are critical. The compact, PC-connected design also facilitates easy integration into automated test setups or shared lab environments.
The full sampling oscilloscope series is available immediately from Pico Technology and its distribution partners worldwide.
