Navitas Semiconductor, a leader in next-generation GaNFast GaN and GeneSiC SiC power semiconductors, has announced that its GaNSense Control ICs will power Xiaomi’s new 90W GaN charger, the world’s smallest and lightest in its class.
Measuring just 34 × 45 × 34 mm and weighing only 65 grams, Xiaomi’s 90W charger is the world’s smallest in its class—roughly half the size and a third the weight of standard GaN chargers.
The charger features Navitas’ NV9580 GaNSense Control power IC on the primary side and the NV9701 synchronous rectification controller IC on the secondary side. The GaNSense Control family integrates 4th-generation GaN power with advanced high-frequency control, delivering the benefits of a monolithic GaN power FET, GaN driver, controller, and protection circuitry, all within a compact surface-mount package. This integration enables high-density, high-efficiency designs ideal for next-gen chargers, adapters, and auxiliary power systems.
GaNSense Control ICs enable ultra-high-frequency operation, significantly reducing system size and weight. Integrated features, including lossless current sensing, high-voltage start-up, and the elimination of the VDD inductor, streamline component count and boost overall efficiency. With transient voltage capability up to 800 V and no PCB hotspots, GaNSense Control ICs deliver best-in-class performance in the smallest possible footprint.
