Olectra Greentech has secured a major electric bus contract worth approximately INR 1,800 crores from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), marking one of the largest state-level electric mobility procurements in India this year.
The order is reported to include the supply of 1,085 electric buses, supporting Telangana’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable public transport. The large-scale procurement reflects the state’s continued push to modernize its public transport fleet while reducing carbon emissions and operating costs. The new contract significantly strengthens Olectra Greentech’s order book and reinforces its position as a key player in India’s electric bus manufacturing segment. The company has been actively supplying electric buses to multiple state transport undertakings as India accelerates the electrification of mass mobility.
The Telangana government has been progressively expanding electric vehicle adoption under its broader sustainability and green mobility initiatives. Large fleet deployments such as this are expected to enhance urban air quality, reduce fuel dependency, and improve long-term cost efficiency for public transport operators.
Market observers note that large public sector EV tenders are becoming a crucial growth driver for domestic electric bus manufacturers, as states scale up fleet electrification to meet environmental targets and national clean energy goals.
Further details regarding deployment timelines and operational rollout are expected in due course.
