KP Group, a prominent leader in the renewable energy sector, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Botswana to advance large-scale projects in renewable power generation, energy storage, and transmission infrastructure. This collaboration aligns with Botswana’s vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 and represents a significant milestone in KP Group’s global expansion strategy.
The MoU follows the recent visit of Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, to Botswana, underscoring the deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations in the clean energy domain. The MoU was formally signed between Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy and KP Group, which includes KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited.
Under this agreement, KP Group and the Government of Botswana will jointly undertake renewable energy and supporting infrastructure projects, representing an estimated investment of USD 4 billion (INR 36,000 crores). The initiatives are expected to add nearly 5 gigawatts of renewable capacity, while also strengthening Botswana’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure and enhancing regional grid interconnections to improve energy reliability and security.
As part of its commitment to inclusive growth, KP Group will offer 30 annual scholarships to Botswana’s citizens for education and skill development in renewable energy, engineering, sustainability, and related disciplines. This initiative aims to foster local expertise, promote knowledge exchange, and nurture a skilled workforce to sustain the country’s clean energy transition.
Gujarat’s Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi virtually inaugurates KP Green Engineering’s Matar Facility.
The MoU signing coincided with another key milestone for the Group, as Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi virtually inaugurated KP Green Engineering’s state-of-the-art fabrication and galvanising facility at Matar. The latest facility adds over 2.94 lakh metric tonnes of annual production capacity, significantly strengthening KP Green Engineering’s manufacturing capabilities for large-scale renewable energy and transmission projects.
Commenting on the collaboration, Hon. Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy said the partnership would accelerate clean energy deployment while delivering long-term economic and environmental benefits. Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founding Promoter of KP Group, said the MoU reflects a shared vision to unlock Botswana’s renewable potential and contribute meaningfully to its net-zero journey.
KP Group currently has a renewable energy portfolio of approximately 6 GW in India and is advancing toward its target of 10 GW by 2030, with active interests in green hydrogen, energy storage, and advanced solar solutions.
