Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has announced that its manufacturing site in Sélestat, France, has achieved ISCC PLUS certification. This facility serves as Amcor’s center of excellence for developing capsule and hood materials used in bottled wine and spirits. The certification enhances customers’ ability to incorporate recycled and bio-based content into their packaging while validating sustainability claims through a recognized international standard.
ISCC PLUS is an internationally recognised framework that supports the transition to a circular economy. It helps companies to integrate bio-based and recycled content attributed via mass balance, through proper chain of custody tracking.
The certification of Amcor’s centre of excellence in Sélestat, France, enables the company to offer ISCC PLUS certified circular and bio-circular material in its capsule laminate, which is primarily used in capsules and hoods to seal bottled wines and spirits. Bio-circular resin refers to waste and residues of biological origin from agriculture, forestry and related industries, helping to reduce reliance on fossil-based virgin plastic.
Peter Roelandt, sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Amcor says: “Achieving this certification marks a significant step forward as it enables our customers to access laminates for use in wine and spirits overcaps using ISCC PLUS certified circular and bio-circular material. As wine producers look to incorporate more sustainable materials in their products, this certification helps us to better support our customers in the transition to a circular economy.”
