The policy, unveiled by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta under the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, aims to phase out older, more polluting vehicles and promote cleaner transportation alternatives across the city.

To enforce this regulation, a smart traffic management system integrated with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology will be deployed to identify non-compliant vehicles in real time.

This initiative is expected to significantly impact fleet operators, logistics firms, and commercial vehicle owners who currently rely on diesel and older petrol models. Businesses are urged to begin transitioning their fleets to meet the new standards to avoid operational disruptions.

The move is part of a broader strategy to improve Delhi’s air quality and safeguard public health, aligning with national and global sustainability goals.
